Hemisphere is an innovative legal consultancy spearheaded by two experienced commercial and corporate lawyers from the UK and Australia.
We specialise in working with female and minority-led businesses, providing commercial and practical legal services to this underserved market. Taking advantage of new and growing models of legal services, including the “fractional” GC model and fixed-fees, we exist to build a community of shared knowledge and build freedom within as an alternative to traditional, time-based law firms for innovative and forward-thinking clients.
The name “Hemisphere” represents the different backgrounds and experiences of us as founders and proof in showing that by bringing together people from different cultures, diversity is a strength.
In industries that continue to be dominated by men, it is a refreshing breakthrough to create a values-led business that aligns itself with likeminded businesses, clients and suppliers who are ready to create the necessary change required to move forward in law.
Our History
Founded in July 2024, Hemisphere Consultants was created by us, Zoe Mortimer and Alexandra Geelan.
Having previously worked together, we shared common frustrations around how the traditional business and legal industries stepped on women and other minorities. But we also shared a passion for creating a community and environment that allowed women and minority business leaders to thrive.
Hemisphere Consultants is the result of our discussions and decisions to create not only the lives that we want (that are so often denied to women and POC), but also to create a business that lifts up other women and minority business leaders. We’re passionate about creating an environment that allows female and minority-led businesses to get access to expert legal support in a safe and supportive way. We exist to pay it forward with these communities and to work and invest in these innovative companies to transform how we can work together rather than in competition.
Pay it forward
We believe in creating a ripple effect of kindness and generosity. By supporting each other and the communities that we’re lucky enough to be a part of, we encourage a culture of paying it forward, where every small act of goodwill contributes to the greater good.
Our Values
Hemisphere Consultants is a values-led business. Our core values shape every decision we make and guide the way we work together and with our clients - they are the foundation of our success, and we live by them every day:
Community
We are stronger together. Building and nurturing community is at the heart of who we are. We invest in creating meaningful connections and collaborate to make a positive impact.
Transparency
Honesty and openness are key to building trust. We embrace transparency in all our interactions with each other and our clients. By being open about our approach, decisions, goals and (critically) our fees, we empower everyone to make informed and confident choices.
Integrity
Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, is the cornerstone of Hems. We uphold the highest ethical standards in all aspects of our work, maintaining accountability and ensuring that trust is earned and never taken for granted.
Work to live
We believe work should enhance life, not consume it. Our approach values balance, ensuring that we and our clients have the time and space to enjoy life outside of work. We work to live, not live to work, and strive to create an environment that supports personal fulfillment alongside professional success.
Meet the Team
-
After beginning my career as a corporate commercial lawyer with over ten years’ experience in commercial, corporate, banking and finance law applied against the understanding of every organisation’s most important asset; people. I wanted to focus on an area which I am extremely passionate about, and that was the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) sector.
I was previously Head of Culture and ESG at a People Intelligence Company where I led on culture reviews and was a lead trainer on all EDI related matters. Following a term of mentoring a group of young people in 2017, I became the sole legal counsel at a CIC youth empowerment organisation for five years working with young adults from predominantly lower socio-economic backgrounds. During my time there, I advised on and successfully completed both a partnership deal with a global footwear company and a partnership with a number of global trusts.
Most recently I consulted for a global client as an extension of its in-house legal team based across the entire UK operations, most specifically I work in technology and enterprise services, I do a lot of the day-to-day renewals, services agreements and understanding the risk of the business
I am here to pay it forward with these communities and to work and invest in these innovative companies to transform how we can work together rather than in competition.

I’m an experienced (10+ year) commercial and technology lawyer, admitted in Australia with 3+ years’ experience in the UK legal environment.
I’m as frustrated as my clients about how traditional legal practice tries (and fails) to meet the needs of clients in a modern, fast-paced, and tech-centered environment. I aim to develop deep relationships with clients that allow me to be genuinely helpful. I get energy and excitement from getting to contribute to all the amazing, scaling companies that I get to work with – they’re the real stars!
In my 10+ years as a lawyer, I’ve worked in a huge range of areas including: family law, wills and estates, conveyancing, disputes and litigation, commercial law, corporate law and employment law. But I found my “home” in the law working with scaling and high-growth tech companies on their contracts, templates and compliance.
I apply a commercial and practical lens to all the work I do, focussing only on legal issues that are consequential and likely to move the needle in my client’s businesses. I pride myself on not being nit-picky
